tumescent liposuction surgery new york

It is important that you are sure to note that there is never any medical advice found in the pages or blogs of this website only observations and an effort on the part of the website authors or guest article writers to give the reader a leg up. One of the places to begin his or her knowledge gathering so to speak. Any surgical procedure is one where the patient should be well versed on the subject beforehand. All decisions of a medical nature must be arrived with the advice of your doctor who knows your individual medical history and the circumstances particular to you as it relates to the matters discussed here.

As one might expect tumescent liposuction in  New York is executed by a large number of board certified physicians. If you are close enough to the big apple maybe you can do what a friend of mine recently was able to do. She went in to the city she met with her doctor who  performed her tumescent liposuction in New York. So confident was her surgeon that recovery would be swift and painless that she jokingly recommended she think about a Broadway play for the night of the surgery since she had decided to stay in the city the night.Well you guessed it my friend has always been driven by a challenge. I don’t believe that spending the night at the theatre is recommended and I don’t want to suggest that my friend’s surgeon made that recommendation except in jest to make the point that recovery would be swift.  Tumescent surgery New York style or not but I wanted to tell her story as told to me to illustrate a point

The tumescent liposuction in New york was scheduled for the morning and all went smoothly. Not groggy the way she might have been if general anesthetics were necessary as in the gowingly distant past. She rested in her hotel room for the day afterwards and sure enough was up to going to the Broadway play she had gotten tickets for that night. Amazing !! Now this will not always be the case. Of course some procedures leave you more sore than others and will take a little more recovery but it does bring to mind how far fat removal surgery has come. For my friend only a little oozing at the entry points for the micro-cannula were needed to be dealt with.

So how was this possible ? Other posts to this blog have discussed the fact that cannulas have now been miniaturized so that they can be inserted through much smaller openings in the skin. They are in fact now refferred to as micro-cannulas. A number of small holes may be placed in the skin around the treated area  this differs from other methods where there instead are few larger holes). The micro-cannulas are then inserted through the several small openings that have been made in the skin at the location for fat removal and the fat is removed.

The term tumescent which comes from the latin and means swollen and firm, which is exactly the method that  this technique prepares the fatty tissue for removal. A prepared solution of lidocaine ,a local anesthetic will be injected into the fatty area along with the measured solution to constrict the blood vessels typically but not always epinephrine. The anesthetising  lidocaine is then absorbed by the fatty tissue  of the patient this causes the tissues to become swollen and firm or tumescent. A large area of fatty tissue can be numbed  at the same time using this technique, thus allowing for a large area of liposuction to be performed while the patient is under only the local anesthesia.

Epinephrine which causes blood vessels to constrict or shrink in the area of fat removal of the procedure, offers a number of advantages. The constriction of the blood vessels primarily the class of blood vessels that are the smallest, the capillaries serves to limit blood loss during the procedure and provides for a longer-lasting numbing effect, with the vasoconstriction there is a greatly reduced  blood flow to carry the lidocaine away from the area of the procedure. This is how the area can be kept numb for longer periods. After tumescent liposuction, the area of the liposuction procedure may stay numb for more than a full day without any further injection of the lidocaine or other pain killers. Surgeon.
